Home Renovation Costs and Design Transformation
I’ve often received the question: “What is the standard rate of renovating a home? How much does it cost to make my house beautiful?”
The truth is, this value is fairly subjective. At Nu Infinity, we often educate our clients to think of renovation value not just in terms of aesthetics, but in terms of turning the unit into a livable space that’s both functional and beautiful.

The Project Background
This project was designed and executed by Alex Lee from Nu Infinity. The home we worked on initially looked very basic with off-white tiles and a mediocre kitchen that had been placed without much thought.

The spaces felt disproportionate, and loose furniture items contradicted the intended function of each room.
Our client, who chose one of the most popular condominiums in the area, wanted to transform it into their long-term dream home. They selected a four-bedroom unit with a generous balcony where the family could sit outside in the evenings.
Reimagining the Layout
The first big move was to flip the existing TV wall with the sofa area.

Since the family of four needed a comfortable couch, we designed a feature cabinet behind the sofa. This not only maximized space but also added functionality. From this cabinet, we extended a casual marble-finished work desk, creating a centerpiece in the intentionally darkened corridor.
This desk allowed the client to work while still being able to look after their children.
Optimizing the Living and Dining Area
To further optimize space, we aligned the dining table with the kitchen island.

This created an impressively long, linear statement that feels grand the moment you enter the unit. The dry kitchen was designed with carefully selected materials to bring depth and dimension. The look is simple yet sophisticated.
Originally, the entrance to the wet kitchen lacked intention and harmony, but through design, this transition was improved dramatically.
Transforming the Kitchen and Corridor Spaces

Dry Kitchen Adjustments
The original window openings and dry kitchen cabinets were disproportionate, making the space feel unimpressive.
After careful adjustments to the dimensions and carpentry design, the outcome became much more refined and worthwhile.
A Functional and Sleek Wet Kitchen
The wet kitchen, being an integral part of an Asian home, was designed to look both cool and highly functional.
By adjusting proportions, the kitchen now feels longer than it actually is.
We aimed to achieve an ultra-slim countertop profile to emphasize a sleek, minimalist outcome. At first, there was concern about durability. To solve this, we used Kompacplus, a product manufactured in Italy, made from multiple layers of paper pulp soaked with resin.
This product is:
- Durable without bulkiness
- Easy to clean
- Anti-fingerprint
- Heat and scratch resistant
- Contains antibacterial properties
The result doesn’t look like a conventional wet kitchen, and the client expressed that this became one of the most loved outcomes of the entire home.
Bedroom Transition and Corridor Transformation
Upon entering any of the bedrooms, the design incorporated a darkened study area. This created a smoother transition by obscuring the space and shifting focus away from the passage itself.

The original corridor felt like an underutilized foyer, surrounded by dormitory-style doors.
To resolve this, we converted all existing entrances into hidden doors. Combined with a darkened stainless steel ceiling feature, the corridor was transformed into a dramatic entrance foyer leading to the respective bedrooms.
Sophisticated Hotel-Inspired Bedrooms
The client’s brief was to turn all the bedroom designs into sophisticated, hotel-looking suites.

Initially, the client wanted to fit an island dressing table in the center of the bedroom. However, due to restricted floor space, that wasn’t possible.
We didn’t give up on the idea. Instead, we decided to craft an outstanding dressing table along the corner wall of the bedroom, which seemingly felt like the center of the space.
Bespoke Carpentry and Detailing
We pushed carpentry design to a challenging new level by going beyond the usual practices:
- Glass extended up to 12 feet in a single piece with a slim aluminum profile, instead of the standard 8 feet.
- A marble feature wall was intentionally stacked one over another, creating layering and shadows enhanced by natural lighting.
- Every material was carefully selected, with intricate detailing and bespoke craftsmanship that worked together to elevate the design.
The result was a chemistry of elegance and innovation, making the bedroom design truly breathtaking once you enter.
Final Transformation of the Condominium
As Nana mentioned earlier, why be stingy on building your habitat that you call home when you can afford a better living?
We turned this 1,875 square feet condominium, which initially looked plain and uninspiring, into an elegant and livable home for a beautiful family of four.
